Why we're doing this

Studio 34 Music is based in Foxton and Tur Langton, and we've spent years working with people all over the Market Harborough area.

Choirs, lessons, concerts, summer schools. What we've learned in that time is simple enough: music gets people who otherwise never would talk to each other.

LocaLE Heroes is the same idea without the singing. Every episode is one person from round here telling you who they are, how they got started, and what they love about this corner of Leicestershire.

Small business owners. People who run things. Neighbours worth listening to.

We think it's a lovely place. We'd like more people to hear why.

What we ask you

Eight questions. You'll answer them one at a time, in your own words, and you can record any of them again if you're not happy.

Three of them are the ones people remember:

The song that takes you straight back.
The place in LE you'd take someone who'd never been.
The one record you'd keep for the rest of your life.

The rest are about you and what you do.

FAQs

  • No. Audio only.

    You can film yourself if you'd like something for your own social media, but we don't need it and we won't ask for it.

    We believe in the power of sound to connect us.

  • A photo of you, and any logos or pictures of your premises.

    We use those for the episode artwork so people can see who they're listening to.

  • The episode is around six minutes.

    Recording it takes most people twenty minutes, at their own pace, from wherever they like.

  • A laptop or a phone and a quiet room. That's genuinely it.

  • Everybody does. Ums, ahs, coughs, losing your thread- all of it gets edited out.

    If you need to say something again - just say “I’ll start that again”…

    Treat it like leaving an answerphone message for a friend or customer.

  • No. We edit for clarity, never for meaning.

    The final call on whether an episode goes out is ours, but we'll never put words in your mouth.

  • Nothing to appear or to listen.

    Just your time!

  • Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Alexa, TuneIn, and everywhere else.

    Free, always. Good for a walk along the canal, a train ride, or a drive to work.
