"Gave me the tools to make the most of my voice"

Students Name: Erin

What were you looking for when you started learning with Shelley?

When I started with Shelley in 2019, I was tired of always being cast as a dancer at my theatre group and wanted a bit of a boost to go for singing roles. I had lots of enthusiasm and volume but Shelley gave me the tools to make the most of my voice and to sing powerfully without damaging my voice.

In a few words, how would you describe Shelley's teaching style?

I love working with Shelley, she has transformed my voice and given me the technique and skills to succeed; she makes me feel like I can tackle any song with confidence. I really love my lessons and look forward to them. I never feel pressured-just supported and encouraged all the way!The highlight of my time with Shelley was performing a duet with her to ‘A Thousand Years’ as a bride walked down the aisle for her wedding- it was a real privilege.

What have you achieved and what does it mean for you?

My journey with Studio 34 has helped me realise that performance is my passion so I am preparing to undertake full-time vocational training in musical theatre after my GCSEs this year.
I recently achieved a mark of 100% for my grade 5 Lamda exam!

What is your next goal?:

I start a BTEC level 3 in Musical Theatre this September with Studio 79 in Leicester and hope to study at degree level at Arts Ed thereafter.
I will be performing with the British Youth Musical Theatre company for the second year running this summer.
